In 1966, former Master Distiller Robert Arthur distilled a run of particularly outstanding spirit. For five decades, our dedicated Master Distillers continuously monitored this exclusive whisky as it slowly aged at The Glenlivet distillery. Over 50 years, this precious spirit became imbued with increasing depth and complexity, soaking up flavour and a sense of history in equal measure. Now, at the peak of its maturation, Master Distiller Alan Winchester has released just 100 bottles of this rare single malt. Crafted over generations, it is a tribute to George Smith, who created the original single malt that set the standard in taste and quality. Vintage 1966 is the second edition of The Winchester Collection. Released over a number of years, The Winchester Collection of 50-year-old single malts is set to become one of the most sought-after and priceless whisky collections. Vintage 1966 has been matured in an exceptional ex-sherry cask, so it bursts with soft fruit and sweet treacle flavours, and it’s tantalisingly rich and dark in colour. On opening the bottle, the nose exudes heavenly sweet, rich aromas of treacle, moist raisins and homemade apricot jam. Take a sip, and the palate bursts with an abundance of soft fruits, treacle and juicy orange. Layered like a symphony, there’s also a hint of cinnamon and liquorice. The finish is exceptionally luscious and long lasting. From the first sip to the final, lingering flavours, it’s pure luxury that will make your heart sing.
